2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Join us for this special AIWF NorCal event and enjoy a uniquely Japanese experience. Our event will start at 2:00 pm. While we mingle with other AIWF members and guests in this wonderful indoor/outdoor space we will enjoy a sake cocktail and sample Sushi Ran's excellent Japanese cuisine. This reception will be followed by a discussion of sake etiquette, leading to a tour through our planned sake experience led by Sushi Ran's owner, Yoshi Tome.
You will savor an assortment of Nigiri and rolled sushi (maki-zushi), selected seafood and vegetable tempura, baked Oysters Ran, raw oysters with ponzu, miso soup and other unique Japanese delicacies, all selected especially for us. This selection of cooked, raw and vegetarian delights is sure to excite every taste.
Sushi Ran is recognized as one of the best sushi bars in the Bay Area, both by critics and local sushi eaters. The restaurant is a long-time favorite of sushi lovers from far and wide. It gained its reputation by consistently providing the freshest and highest quality sushi in a cozy and elegant setting. For more about Sushi Ran visit their web site at www.SushiRan.com.
The lecture and tasting will be in the bar area, with food served by strolling waiters. While it is a comfortable and elegant space, this will be combined sit down and stand up event. Some indoor and outdoor seating will be available.
Other surprises are planned,
including a Taiko drumming presentation
and demonstration conducted
by Taiko Master Drummer, Tracy Bush.
Japanese drumming is a celebratory
art form weaving the dynamic energy
of large, traditional drums with graceful,
flowing movement. Tracy Bush and her
students, the KiGaeru Taiko Drummers,
hope to impart the pure spirit of joy
and community which the Taiko rhythms
embody. Tracy Bush spent the
last 4 of her 7 years in Japan performing
professionaly throughout Japan and
internationally as the only foreign
member of Omagari Drummersand other
troupes. She has been teaching and
performing in the Bay area for
the past seven years.
