Join us for a rockin' event at Everett & Jones on Sunday, July 20th, from 1-5pm. Savor great down-home BBQ, washed down with refreshing Brother's Brewing Company beer and delicious wines, donated by Chalone Wine Group. Chill to the sounds of John Lee Sanders' blues. Share the fun and camaraderie as we dance, eat, and chat in a very unusual party space, provided by Everett & Jones in Oakland. You won't want to miss this great event!

Everett & Jones is a family-owned business, opened in 1973, with six locations around the Bay Area. Our fabulous BBQ & Blues event will be held at their only full-service restaurant, located at 126 Broadway in Oakland, just down the street from Jack London Square. E&J has won many accolades for their scrumptious food, and has been featured in San Francisco Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, New West Magazine, and has been listed twice in the 100 Best Barbeque Places in America. This is your chance to see what the fuss is all about!

Brother's Brewing Company is the only African-American owned brewery in the US. Their beers provide a perfect complement to the spicy BBQ ribs and chicken served up by Everett & Jones.

A special treat will be musical entertainment by John Lee Sanders on keyboards and vocals, and Gary King on guitar. John Lee grew up in Memphis and other parts of the South, and was performing from age 12. He has composed and produced Grammy-nominated CDs, and has written for, recorded, toured and played with such world-class artists as Chuck Berry, Stevie Wonder, Huey Lewis, John Lee Hooker, Tower of Power, Percy Sledge, and many others.

This special event will be co-hosted by Urban Voice, an Oakland-based non-profit organization which provides vocational computer education and employment opportunities for adults in the East Bay. Founder Boku Kodama, an active AIWF member, will be on hand to talk about his very important organization, which provides essential services to the East Bay community.
