On Saturday, September 27 from 7 to 11pm, Falkirk will host its first ever Public Programs fundraiser. This event will take place at the San Rafael Recreation Center at 618 B street in downtown San Rafael.
And what a night we have in store for you! The incomparable Harold Jones, award-winning former drummer with the Count Basie Orchestra, heads up his own mighty 17-piece big band, The Bossmen, for a night of fine music and dancing.
The Count Basie Orchestra's singer, Jamie Davis is the featured vocalist for this performance. Davis has been called "a worthy heir to the Joe Williams-Jimmy Rushing chair" with a voice ranging "from basso basement to mellow tenor."
An all-star line up of guest artist will join Harold Jones for an evening of music you will not forget.
Guest artists will include the great George Young. George has played with everyone from Elvis Presley to Frank Sinatra. He has played with Stan Getz, Chubby Checker, Maynard Ferguson, Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie and The Saturday Night Live Orchestra, just to name a few.
Other featured artist include Tim Acosta, Noel Jewkes, Mel Martin, Shota Osaba, Chip Tingle, and many other Bay Area favorites.
There will be swing dance demonstrations, lessons and a dance contest complete with prizes, too. The dance program will be put on by Cynthia Glinka and "On The Dance Floor".
The evening starts off with a Silent Auction preview from 7-8pm complete with hors d' oeuvres. At 8pm, the band takes the stage for a few sets of lively music featuring the best of the Count Basie book and the swing era.
The charge for this event is just $30 if you buy your ticket in advance, and $35 at the door. As a special offer, if you buy your tickets by August 31st you will only be charged $25. A Senior Discount of $5 per ticket will be applied to all purchases.
