...about the AIWF
You Are Invited to Join the
American Institute of Wine & Food

The American Institute of Wine & Food is a nonprofit educational organization, founded on the premise that gastronomy is essential to the quality of human existence. The Institute is dedicated to promoting the message of health and well-being through the enjoyment of good food and drink and the fellowship that comes from eating together around the table.

When you become a member of The Institute, you'll join thousands of others who are committed to improving the understanding and appreciation of food and drink. And in doing that, you'll help share the spirit of our diverse cultural and culinary heritage with generations to come.

The AIWF was founded as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 1981 by Julia Child, Robert Mondavi and the late Richard Graff to provide a forum for the study of gastronomy.

Today, the organization has over 30 chapters in the United States and one in France, with a diverse membership that includes both food and wine professionals and dedicated enthusiasts, all of whom share a passion for the pleasures and traditions of the table.

Attend unique local events and educational opportunities.

AIWF chapters are the heart and soul of The AIWF. Thought-provoking seminars, unique educational opportunities and festive social gatherings at the local level inspire a lively and comprehensive exchange of information and ideas.

Recent programs have included a barrel-tasting in a private wine cellar, a behind-the-scenes tour of an organic farm, a symposium on taste and a healthy diet, wine component tastings and an ethnic pantry-tasting series.

These specialized events are designed to explore and celebrate the many aspects of food and drink, from preparation and presentation to eating habits and table etiquette.

Support the AIWF's educational mission.
